In post-war France, Jan Bojarski was an unlikely criminal mastermind. A young Polish refugee, gifted engineer and inventor, he became known as the “Cézanne of counterfeit money” — a man whose forged banknotes were so extraordinarily precise they could fool even the experts at the Banque de France.

But behind the extraordinary skill was a hidden life. For more than fifteen years, Bojarski secretly operated from a small garden shed, creating near-perfect counterfeit francs while his family remained completely unaware of his underground empire. By day he appeared to be an ordinary family man; by night he was one of the most wanted counterfeiters in France.

As his reputation grew, so did the determination of Commissaire André Mattei, the relentless detective determined to bring him down. What began as a police investigation became a battle of wills — a fascinating duel between two obsessive men, each driven by their own pursuit of perfection.

Directed by Jean-Paul Salomé (The Godmother, The Sitting Duck) and starring Reda Kateb as Bojarski and Bastien Bouillon as Mattei, The Money Maker brings this remarkable true story to life as a stylish historical thriller exploring ambition, obsession, genius and the fine line between artistry and crime.

A gripping story of one man who challenged an entire financial system — and almost got away with it.
